The WiFi in my on campus apartment sucks,someone told me I should get a wireless router and connect it via the Ethernet port but I don't know what kind I should get. It would be used for my laptop and phone.

Yes, because if you receive low signal rate you should get Router, better connect the LAN or ISP cable to the router and configure the router to give access to certain devices only.

If you see routers manual that is easy to configure the router and don't forget to assign the security key because if that is an open network anyone can access your Internet until they are in your WiFi range.

but when ever you should know that if your home is spread in large area better research on Internet and buy the better one. Many people don't know which router we should buy they will get the kind of router that are low in price and then it not functions correctly.

To be frank I bought a router firstly which I don't know about it and it cannot not spread area in long, if connected disconnects automatically, connects back again and then I researched on Internet got the best router.

I have an iPad Air with WiFi and no 3G. I also have a BT hub.
My family use a multitude of laptops etc which connect to the Internet. However, when I am online on my iPad, it will often randomly disconnect and I have to manually reconnect. It happens a lot while YouTube videos are being loaded.

This problem doesn't occur on other devices we use, nor does it occur when I am using other people's Internet. 

Perfectly you are saying that this doesn't occur on other devices, it might be because there might be problem with the software (ios) once contact the apple service center and they will let you know.

Secondary is that, there might be the router restriction that it may be configured with to use some type of sites, I mean that the router is allows access to some websites or it might getting you block some websites from you ipad based on your iPad MAC address.

So look I have Comcast 150 mpbs,  Using a net gear router. So I tested my speed Ethernet and wireless at the same time But here is one thing why is my Ethernet speed same as wireless speed. Btw got 6 devices connected, 3 wired and 3 wireless,  all them get 156 upload, and 150 download, So can some tell me why I have the same speed for wire and wireless.

Here what happens is the Internet speed for WiFi depends on the WiFi Signal and lets say that you have 5 point signal in your smartphone and the speed is full that which actually your internet have. If the WiFi signal strength is good or normal or poor you may experience the Internet Speed fluctuations or speed decreases.

Until you have a Excellent signal strength you don't face any Internet speed problems.

No need to worry about the speed as you are getting the speed as your Internet Service Provider promised, and your router is also working perfectly?

But for the LAN you may don't experience the Internet Speed problems.

First of all, is it possible to connect the cable to modem and then share the internet connection among mobile phones, a PC, and a laptop. If so, what other equipment do I need and what steps do I need to take in achieving this. If it is possible, please suggest a modem under 1500 rupees?

Yes, It is possible but the Beam ISP people cannot give you the fibre optic cable in the phone line and just they provide you the direct no phone connection or anything and plugin and use.

If you want to share the internet connection among mobile phones, a PC, and a laptop you need to buy the router not the modem, modem is for phone line internet connection. So buy the Wifi router it's better for you and can share the Internet with all devices.

One more thing is if you want the Internet connection with spreading in high area take the high frequency router which clocked at about 5 ghz so these routers can cover more area.

If you are new to use the Wifi router, just follow the router configuration instructions that provided in the router manual. and purchase the routers like netgear, dlink, belkin, asus...etc

I got a dell laptop yesterday and I am trying to connect it to my wireless Internet so if someone can help me that would be great.

Once check whether the drivers are installed or not and you can go to device manager by right clicking on my computer, click manage and then check in the device manager whether is there ? marks are there or not.

If there the drivers or not installed, so I suggest you to download the drivers from the dell official website.

Make sure the router is turned on and once keep a open network so you will come to know whether the WiFi is working or not and after keep wps/wpa2 password to be secure so none other device can access.

If you have problem with the router you can hard reset the router, if not worked connect through LAN so you will come to know whether the problem of your laptop WiFi or LAN or the router's.

Just all of a sudden my computer disconnected from the router, and whenever it tried to reconnect it would just have limited access and would not have any internet access. I tried restoring my computer and nothing really happened. Right now I can connect to other internet connections fine, but when I try to join my regular router it just keeps connecting for a second then disconnects itself and keeps connecting and never works. I'm not sure if its the router's problem, as both my other computer and my phone can connect fine to the internet on my regular router

Once check with the router settings because if your ISP is providing any dynamic IP or DNS assigned IP address the router automatically detects and assigns the certain IP to the connected devices and once check with the router before connections.

If the ISP providing the static IP address you need to enter the IP address, DNS, and gateway in the router settings it should be configured then only it allows the Internet to the connected devices.

One more option is that where the router has some qos services like where you can specify mac address you need to connect to Internet and check whether QOS is disabled or not. May be your system is infected with the virus and clean the whole system with any security programme or the network drivers are not functioning properly

There are many ways to disconnect the devices that have connected to a Router/Modem. If that is connected through LAN there is no need to disconnect and just unplug is enough and if that is a desktop or a Laptop or a Smartphone or any other device you can disconnect them from the list of WIFI networks available. You will find the total list of WIFI networks available near by and if you want to Disconnect them right from your device you need to right click on it and click on forget so the settings allotted to that particular network like password...etc will be forgotten by the device and as the same thing repeats in laptop, desktop and smartphone as well.

If you want to remove the devices that connected to your router or modem. You need to know whether the connected devices are showing in the router or not. If shown there will be a option like forget or delete and just click on it. The Router will forget them.

How you are connected to the Internet? Let me know first. Are you connected to WiFi network or connected the ISP direct to your LAN port or you are connected to a Router?

Because as you are connected to the Internet you may face different type of problems, if the connection is not configured correctly. One thing that if your connected to the ISP's WIFI network because check with them there may be options like automatic assign of IP address or configuring them manually, please contact the ISP if you are connected in this way.

Second thing is that if you connected to WiFi, in your network like the ISP is connected to a router and then your laptop is connecting to that router through WiFi you need to check the settings of that router, once refer manual for the brief steps to be followed to configure the router.

If you connected to a LAN to the router, check the IP address and other things like using of proxy, any programme in your laptop is denying to access to internet or once check with the wireless drivers and lan drivers and install a good Internet Security Software to protect against the virus, trojans, malware, spyware...etc

For the past two weeks my connection has been terrible. It gets really bad at around 7 pm to 11 pm and sometimes is bad all day. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks in advance. I have, we talked for an hour and the guy said that I probably had a virus on my computer, so he had me test my connection on another computer and the upload speed came out to be 2 Mbps and the guy said that it's fine. I'm supposed to be getting 5 Mbps  That's almost 5 times slower. Then he tried telling me that I'm lagging on my Xbox because we're watching Netflix at the same time, the thing is, I wasn't on both. Plus it never mattered before if I was doing both at the same time.

Might be your PC is infected with Virus or check the data cable, change the cable if you are connecting your PC through a Modem or Switch or Router. You should check the following as well whether the LAN port of your PC is working fine or not. Try inserting the other LAN card on the motherboard and Install the Latest Drivers, connect to the Internet check the speed. If every thing is right, problem is with the on board LAN card. Check the LAN drivers whether correctly installed or not. Go to motherboard manufacturer's site and download the Latest drivers.

Your PC might be infected with viruses or Trojans...etc or any ongoing downloads are going in background. check the applications or If any one around installed a speed limiter software's like Netlimiter, check the add/remove programmes in control and uninstall them. Fault with Internet browsers also is one of the reason, install a new browser don't install or update or uninstall the existing browsers.

If you are connecting through Router using WiFi, you need to check with router settings. Might be Router settings are reducing the speed of your Internet on Desktop.

Recently at school, whenever I try to connect to the internet it is extremely slow. I am on the same network as forty other students, but my connection seems to be the only slow one. Any ideas as to why this is happening?

As you are saying that forty students are connected to same WIFI this means that net will be slow obviously, because it depends on the speed. Assume that you school has 10 Mbps bandwidth and forty students are connected to it, in that 30 of them are watching you tube video and other ten students wont get the internet or the browsing will be slow.

If you are downloading alot or browsing alot when connected to Internet, if this is observed by your school management they might be limiting the speed of Internet to your particular IP address or MAC address. If this is done by the management you can change the IP address, if speed limited by MAC address that is not possible to change.

If you are installing the modem for the first time you need to refer router's manual first. First configure the modem in a way such that you can use it. Wifi modem is used to connect to internet through wireless.

Before Buying a modem check for the technical specifications like frequency speed in mhz and how long thus it spreads the waves, speed also matters here.

If you are connecting the modem for the first time, manufacturer of the modem will attach a username and password by default. May be mostly "Admin" & password is "password". Login using this credentials, if not worked refer your router manual.

Assign a WEP/WPA key for accessing Wifi, it is an easy way of maintaining the security. No one can access it. If you use the modem like open network any one can access it.

I tried to hook up a DS WiFi  I changed a few things in my router options to do this online. It never worked and now my laptop refuses to connect to the internet via WiFi  When I go into my laptop options to reconnect to the internet it is blabbing about passwords I never used to make an internet connection. Very user unfriendly. No idea how to fix this.

Do one thing just reset the router and when you reset the router it restores to factory settings. after resetting just wait for two minutes and keep the router manual with you, follow the instructions.

It is safe to keep a password to WiFi  keep a password that must difficult to guess with combination numbers, letters and special characters.

Password or key can be acts as a security for the WiFi  Options like WPS/WPA/WEP or features included in the router for a protected network.

Don't ever share your Passwords and username with other users, they might limit the internet connection speed and it's usage for you.

Check your laptop if not still connected by doing the above things, your laptop has some traces or viruses that are not allowing to connect to internet.

Every night at around 5-6, my internet disconnects. When I am playing call of duty, I get signed out and when I try to watch a video on youtube, it wont work. After 2minutes, It starts to work, but 10 minutes later its the same story. It works in the day perfectly. Someone please help me

There might be so many reasons for the internet disconnection. As it is particularly disconnecting at same time period there might be any software installed in your PC. There are some softwares are there, they handle internet connection manually so we can schedule the internet disconnection time and wake on. So beware that any this type software installed on your machine check throughly and uninstall the same.

Some scheduled tasks also do this type things, so check your windows scheduled tasks, disable or delete the tasks aswell.

If your is system is perfect there might be switching off the router by your ISP. Check with those Internet service provider, Contact them and explain the problem.

If you have any router that router might have over heating or swithcing off at point of time , Once refer router manual.

There might be n number of reasons if there is no internet access.

Firstly check with the hardware you are using for your lan card and LAN card drivers should be updated prior to the vendor. If there are no correct or updated drivers the lan card is incompatible with the OS. It may not work properly.

Second thing make sure you know how to connect to internet by assigning IP address to connect into a LAN. If you are using a router or modem as per their configurations sometimes IP is assigned automatically by DHCP.

If you are using a modem, you need to create a dial up connection according to your internet service provider and a username and password required.

if you are connecting to a switch or router , make sure the lan cable(cat5 cable) is in good condition and use the climper to climp RJ45 clips.

If you are using broadband, some internet service providers may have login page.

If you have correct with all the above details your PC might have infected with virus or trojans etc. 

Before connecting to Internet make sure your PC is loaded with good antivirus system or internet security.
